About Me

Photography has become a fluid part of my life. I would feel lost without the ability to capture still moments in my life.

I have been photographing for over 20 years.  I started using my first serious camera when I was 15 years old- a PentaxK1000- still owned and still my favorite. I received both my Associates and my Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in photography.

My favorite subject to photograph has always been people. I started out photographing friends and family in various staged scenes and home-made studios. My sister was the most patient model I ever had. She would go anywhere I wanted her to- basement, attic, bathroom floor, etc., and she would wear anything I asked of her. It wasn’t until college that I began to appreciate the “lifestyle” type of photography, also known as “candid”, “documentary”, “photojournalistic”, “environmental portrait”, etc.

Now it’s popularly called “lifestyle photography”. I thoroughly enjoy being able to capture something unique, honest, and irreplaceable. I love observing life through my lens just waiting for the right moment to CLICK the shutter release.

A quote that I love:  “To me, photography is an art of observation.  It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place…I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them” -Elliott Erwitt.  That is how I approach my photography no matter the subject- person, object or place.

Professionally I have worked in the field of photography since I was 19 years old, as a printer for an internationally known photographer, assistant photo editor for a NY based magazine, photo assistant for the NBA, lifestyle and documentary photographer, and for the last 13 years a photo teacher.

When I became pregnant with my baby girl I developed a passion (or obsession) with making sure all of these precious moments in my life were captured on still images. It became so apparent to me that those images are going to be the objects that I cherish most in my life. This is something that I would like to do for other people- photograph their special moments.
